Board Members Doris McDonald, BSW, BAAS, M.L.S. WCAACC President
Doris Riley McDonald is the Founder and President of the Williamson County African-American Chamber of Commerce. The concept for the Williamson County African American Chamber of Commerce came into existence through a true need for minority businesses to have more support in their communities. Thus the AACCWC was born.
Mrs. McDonald has been involved in the human services area for over twenty five years. She is a trained, professional lay counselor with an emphasis on marital and family dynamics and the prevention of child abuse and neglect through the State of Texas. Mrs. Doris McDonald also has a Master’s level certification in alternative dispute resolution-mediation.
Doris McDonald began her collegiate career at Prairie View A&M University. She later earned a degree in Social Work. Mrs. McDonald graduated, with honors, from Texas State University with a Bachelors degree in Applied Arts and Sciences. Currently, Doris McDonald is in her final year of graduate school at Texas State University and will complete her Masters degree in Legal Studies in 2009.
Mrs. McDonald is an active volunteer with a various of organizations in the community and is a much sought after inspirational speaker throughout the state:

Nacole Thompson, M.B.A.
Nacole Thompson was appointed as the Chairman of the Executive Board for the Williamson County African-American Chamber of Commerce in November 2007. Since then, Mrs. Thompson has continued to promote the agenda and purpose of the chamber within the business communities of Williamson County and surrounding areas.
Nacole Thompson’s educational background includes as Masters Degree in Business Management from Florida Metropolitan University as well as a Bachelors Degree in Speech Communication from Baylor University .
Mrs. Thompson has a breadth of knowledge relating to executive management, diversity relations, and small business development. She has enjoyed a twelve year career in sales which currently includes her position as a consultant with mergers and integrations for a large corporation.
Mrs. Thompson enjoys spending time with her husband and three children. In her spare time, she also enjoys volunteering with various organizations within her community. Nacole Thompson strives to inspire people to be better, work harder and give more.
Cerwin Thompson, B.A. Business
Cerwin Thompson serves as First Vice-Chairman for the Executive Board of the Williamson County African-American Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Thompson is dedicated to promoting small business development in his city of Leander, Texas as well as in other cities throughout Williamson County .
Mr. Thompson has a strong background in project and budgetary management and has had an extensive fifteen year career in property and hotel management. He continues to use the skills he acquired through his Bachelors of Arts degree in Business from Eckerd College to improve the corporate environment of area businesses.
Mr. Thompson is currently pursing a Masters Degree in Project Management and continues to be an active participant in his local community. Mr. Thompson understands how difficult it is for professionals to attend college and work a full-time jobs, so he spends a great deal of his spare time encouraging others to increase their educational aptitude by returning to college and value the opportunities a higher education will afford you.
Mr. Thompson enjoys spending time with his wife and three children, participating in activities at his church and playing basketball. During his collegiate career, Mr. Cerwin Thompson excelled in basketball at Eckerd College and helped propel his team to the National Collegiate Athletic Association’s Elite 8. Mr. Thompson uses his various experiences in sports and in life to encourage others to live your dream ... even when the road gets rough. James Lee McDonald, Pastor
Pastor James Lee McDonald occupies the position of Treasurer on the Williamson County African-American Chamber of Commerce Board. He is also the Founder and Presiding Pastor of Damascus Road Christian Church.
Damascus Road Christian Church was formed on February 17, 2008, although James McDonald has been an active clergyman for over twenty years. He believes that four essential elements allow D.R.C.C. to effectively aide the community. Those four elements are: Evangelism, Counseling, Teaching, and Preaching. These elements work in conjunction with one another and are ideal to the success and continued growth of our society and our world.
Pastor McDonald has been fortunate to work in various areas of ministry throughout his illustrious career. From operating as a youth pastor to counseling married couples, Damascus Road has been a beacon of hope to many throughout the community. In 1990. Reverend McDonald was certified, by the State of Texas, as a lay counselor for the prevention of child abuse and neglect. That same year, he became professionally trained as a counselor for the Family Outreach of America program. From 1997 to 2002, James McDonald served as a member of the Advisory Board for the Northwest Austin Youth Choir. In 2003, he was able to utilize his previous training to serve as the Compliance Officer with the Texas Child Care Co-op. In September 2008, Pastor McDonald was honored for his work with the Justice Court of Williamson County Mentoring Program. Currently, Pastor McDonald is working towards obtaining his bachelor of arts degree in religious studies from Liberty University.
The Damascus Road Christian Church theme is “Expect To Be Blessed!” James McDonald firmly believes that everyday is a day to serve the community, grow, and above all else, bring people closer to the Lord.
Christopher Whitt Christopher Whitt currently serves as an executive board member of the Williamson County African-American Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Whitt has enjoyed a successful career in the business and management areas of the distribution industry for many years for several large corporations such as Walmart, Sam's and Pepsi Co. Christopher Whitt continues to be actively involved in his community through his volunteer work with the Williamson County African-American Chamber of Commerce and Neighborhood Sports as well as several other organizations. Mr. Whitt supports and encourages other African-American men in his regular monthly luncheons and business networking events. Paulette Tyson, B.S. Criminal Justice Paulette Tyson currently serves as an executive board member of the Williamson County African-American Chamber of Commerce. Mrs. Tyson is a graduate of the University of North Texas at Denton and has always had an interest in the Criminal Justice system. In junior high school, Mrs. Tyson served on the Texas Teenage Commission. Throughout her college and professional career, Mrs. Tyson has enjoyed several accolades, masteries, and numerous certifications. She is a member Sigma Gamma Rho Inc., and a former president of the Austin Chapter of the National Association of Black in Criminal Justice (NABCJ).Paulette Tyson is accomplished in her professional career as well as in her personal life. She is the wife of one husband, Rev. Louis Tyson Jr. and a mother of two beautiful children. Paulette believes that she survived so much before she met my husband and that he and their two children have loved her through it all. Paulette says, “My story may be similar in some sense to others assembled here today; I too have suffered some injustices; I’ve felt offended; I’ve been wronged. But, I’m here to make a positive impact those two precious children. See, it’s important to me to make a positive impact on them, so they won’t make a negative impact on others. The Williamson County African-American Chamber of Commerce impacts others just the same.” Paulette Tyson also has a strong commitment to her faith, her family and her community. Mrs. Tyson serves her community through her active participation in several community organizations such as the National Association of Blacks in Criminal Justice. She also shares a love of love children through her current authorship of a children's book that will be released in the near future. |
